Zinc Gluconate. A pleasant-tasting lozenge supplies zinc gluconate in an easily-assimilable form to bathe epithelial tissues in this immune-supporting nutrient.
Ingredients :
Each Lozenge Contains: Zinc (as gluconate) 9.4 mg.
Other Ingredients :
Maltodextrin (tapioca), Microcrystalline Cellulose, Rice Bran Extract, Rice Extract, Spearmint Flavor
Contraindications :
High doses of zinc can interfere with immune function. Shils and Young report the level of zinc that interferes with copper absorption (associated with copper deficiency and anemia) is a long-term, chronic ingestion of 150 mg/day (Shils M and Young V. eds. Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease. 1988 7th ed. Lea and Febiger, Philadelphia, Pa.).Michael Murray advises against a daily intake greater than 150 mg for more than a week, but stresses that zinc supplementation, particularly lozenges, can effectively enhance the immune system.
